Aaron had a couple of rain ponchos Clare and I could borrow, and we picked up rain ponchos for the kids for $1.99 each. We were determined not to let the rain hold us back! Aaron helped us get to the right subway station on his way to work, and we set off for The Strand. It is the biggest bookstore we've ever been in - I could have spent the entire day in there (and an absolute fortune). We did buy a couple of gifts and a Luna Lovegood bookmark for Zoe. I was too distracted by all the wonderfulness of the store that I forgot to take any photos, but Clare took two little ones outside.
We also visited a neat comic book shop next to The Strand.
Quinn found out there was a SECOND Lego store in NYC, so of course we had to visit that one as well. It is in the building across the street in this photo:
They had some pretty amazing Lego displays:
From there, we made our way to Times Square where Zoe wanted to visit the shop at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It had mostly stopped raining at this point. We decided to visit Macy's, it is such a famous store. Three of us really enjoyed the old escalators. Quinn was really afraid of them but we forced him to go on them and after a while he was fine. It is easy to get lost at Macy's, it is so huge! We didn't buy anything other than cold drinks at Starbucks. We hoped to sit down for a few minutes with them because we had already been walking for hours, but we couldn't find anywhere to sit.
We got back to the apartment around 5pm. Zoe wanted to go for a mani-pedi, so we 3 ladies went down the street and got pampered a bit. It sure felt nice to soak our feet after all that walking.
Meagan this makes me think of a book I read recently that you'd probably enjoy after your trip, called Lillian Boxfish takes a walk
