We enjoyed some more reading and visiting time this morning. We were waking up fairly early and Aaron didn't usually leave for work until after 10am.

Aaron helped us get to the right subway on his way to work, and then we were off exploring for the day. We got to walk through a lovely park on the way to the subway, and came across an old fashioned yellow taxi cab.

When we got off the Subway we came across this beautiful Gandhi statue:
In SOHO we visited Madman Espresso, a great little coffee place that was featured on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. I was too shy to take a photo inside (it is a really small place so I couldn't do it without being obvious) so took one of my cup instead. We absolutely loved this coffee shop, the owner is a real character, very welcoming and funny.
We passed a neat little pet supply store next to the coffee place and it made me miss Wimbley just a little extra. I stopped in and got a toy to bring home for Wimbley. I had a good chat with the shop owner. He said he could tell I was from Canada right away by the way I said the word 'outside'. He assured me that most people exaggerate the Canadian accent and that it is quite subtle but it is there.
On the way to our next destination, we passed a pretty cobblestone street, not the type of thing you expect to see in the thick of the city:
From there, we walked to Washington Square Park. It is very beautiful! There was live music playing and people hanging out, but not as crowded as we expected.
Here are the kids at the fountain:
The kids wanted to see the Statue of liberty, so we set out on the walk there from Washington Square Park. We saw lots of beautiful buildings along the way, including the Court House and City Hall.

We also walked on Wall Street:

We got to the water and walked along to the Staten Island Ferry. It started to sprinkle on us again.

It was raining and foggy, but we still enjoyed some beautiful sights from the ferry.
The kids were starting to get pretty tuckered out.
We were really tired and our feet were sore at this point, but we didn't stop there! We decided instead of taking the subway back to the apartment from Manhattan, we would walk over to the Brooklyn Bridge and walk across that.
There was a beautiful little garden and some old buildings with cobblestone roads on the walk.
It was drizzling off and on as we walked across the bridge and there were some very dark clouds, but we didn't really care. It was a very cool bridge with great views!

We all changed into dry clothes when we got back to the apartment, and then Taylor and Zoe baked brownies.
