NYC: Day 1

We had a bit of a lazy Sunday morning and lounged with coffee for a bit. Our hosts were still sleepy, so the 4 of us set out to find breakfast in Brooklyn. We ended up at the Charlotte Patisserie where Clare & the kids enjoyed gluten-free French toast and I had avocado on toast.

After breakfast, we set out for the Central Park Zoo. Quinn was very afraid of going on the Subway, but he pushed through and did well. He focused himself on how many stops there would be and learning the street names.

We passed some beautiful buildings, including the Plaza Hotel, along the way. There was also a pop-up shop from The Strand bookstore at the entrance to Central Park.

The Central Park Zoo was wonderful! We felt like we were visiting botanical gardens that happened to have animals. It was interesting to see the skyscrapers in the background of the lush gardens.

When we finished at the Zoo, we walked through some of Central Park.

On the way to our next destination, we walked by Rockefeller Centre and Quinn enjoyed a visit to the Lego store!

There was a huge line outside the Museum of Natural History when we arrived, but it moved very quickly. It is a beautiful building and we all enjoyed seeing the dinosaurs and the blue whale. It is such a huge museum, even though we spent a few hours there we only saw maybe 1/8 of it.

Some of us were pretty tuckered out on the Subway ride back:

We did about 26,000 steps on this day, so we were all ready to head back to the apartment and rest our legs. We ordered pizza for dinner and enjoyed a well-deserved lazy evening.
